The United Nations, at its General Assembly in November 2014, declared 15 July as World Youth Skills Day.  The goal is to achieve better socio-economic conditions for today’s youth as a means of addressing the challenges of unemployment and under employment.

The theme for 2020 World Youth Skills Day is “Skills for a Resilient Youth”.

Skills development is a primary means of enabling young people to make a smooth transition to work. Skills and jobs for youth feature prominently in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and SDG target 4.4 calls for a substantial increase in the number of youth and adults who have relevant skills.

United Nations General Assembly

UN General Assembly, one of the six main organs of the United Nations,  established in 1945 to discuss and work together on a wide array of international issues covered by the Charter of the United Nations, such as development, peace and security, international law, etc.

Every year in September, all the Members meet in this unique forum at Headquarters in New York for the General Assembly session.
